Grievance Hearing Officer

Scope of work
The selected consultants shall have qualifications and experience to perform the tasks related to grievance hearings.
Work description
Qualified consultants selected for the roster and assigned work under the roster will be required to:
- Conduct informal hearings at locations determined by Seattle Housing Authority, generally the Porchlight Building located at 907 NW Ballard Way, Seattle, WA 98107, or the Central Office located at 120 Sixth Ave N, Seattle, WA 98109.
- Within ten business days after the conclusion of the hearing, prepare a written decision together with the reasons therefore based solely upon information presented at the hearing. The written decision shall present the issues and an analysis of the rules to the issues and conclusion.
- Submit an original hard copy of the written decision to Seattle Housing Authority's Grievance Hearings Coordinator.
Detailed work requirements
The Hearing Officer shall preside at the hearing and conduct the hearings pursuant to Seattle Housing Authority Policy L12.9-1. The Hearing Officer insures that:
- The resident/program participant is given the opportunity to present evidence and arguments in support of the resident/ program participant's position, to controvert the evidence relied upon by Seattle Housing Authority and to confront and question all witnesses on whose testimony or information the agency relies.
- The hearing is conducted informally by the hearing officer and oral or documentary evidence pertinent to the facts and issues raised are received without regard to admissibility under the rules of evidence applicable to judicial proceedings.
