2011 Draft Budget and Annual Plan Available for Comment

The Seattle Housing Authority is one of about 35 housing authorities across the country participating in the U.S. Deparmtent of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Moving to Work program, which allows the agency to test innovative methods to improve housing services and to better meet local needs. As a participant in MTW, Seattle Housing may also propose and implement alternatives to federal regulations for certain issues spelled out in an agreement between HUD and the agency.

Fiscal year 2011 will be Seattle Housing’s thirteenth year in MTW. Each year the agency adopts a plan that describes activities planned for the following year. At the end of the year, the agency prepares a report describing its accomplishments.  The draft 2011 Plan is available for review and comment by residents and the general public.

In October, staff will inform the Board of Commissioners of the comments received and will take those comments into consideration. This may result in modifications to the plan or budget. At the Board of Commissioners meeting at 5 p.m. on October 11, staff will ask the Board to adopt the budget and plan for 2011. This meeting is open to all.
